Belén Commuter Train To Be Operational By Mid January
January 3rd, 2011 | by admin |San Antonio de Belén, will get its train by mid January, says the president of the Instituto Costarricense de Ferrocarriles (Incofer), Miguel Carabaguíaz, who explained that the delay in the delivery of the “Apolo” trains was the reason for the delayed start.
Carabaguíaz said that the intense European winter and paperwork is the cause of the delay in loading the trains on to the ship, while the train sits on the docks at Avilés, Spain.
The railroad president is hopeful that the trains will arrive in the next two weeks and will be put into service almost immediately.
The commuter train will connect the Heredia community to San José, offering commuters another alternative to the congested roads, especially the autopista General Cañas which is undergoing repairs over the Virillay bridge.
The cost for a one way pass is ¢350 colones (us$0.70) providing service between 6am and 8:30am and 3:30pm and 8Pm, every 30 minutes, Monday to Friday, between Belén and San Pedro.
