Crocodile Wrestling (Limon) R.I.P.

NOTE: Crocodile tears for Pocho, died October 2011 R.I.P. Big Buddy, you will be missed.
Locals in Costa Rica’s town of Siquerres cried crocodile tears of sadness as they said farewell to their beloved croc, Pocho at a grand funeral.
A fisherman who rescued a dying crocodile from a river in Limon Costa Rica twenty years ago astonished tourists by wrestling with and hugging the 450kg animal. Online footage shows 52-year-old Chito wading into the water, whistling to the croc named Pocho before wrestling with it. “Pocho was my best friend. This was a very dangerous routine but we had a good relationship. He would look me in the eye and not attack me. “It is too dangerous for anyone else to come in the water. It was only ever the two of us.” Chito rescued the crocodile after finding him with a gunshot wound on the banks of the Parismina river 20 years ago. He had been shot in the left eye by a cattle farmer and was close to death. The odd couple have now become a major tourist attraction, with several tour operators taking visitors on cruises to see the pair.
