To make a call within Costa Rica dial the 8 digit number.
- The 8 digit number is new, so if you are using an old 7 digit number, you will need to add a ‘2′ to the beginning of land line numbers (which start with a 2, 4, 5, 6 or 7), or an ‘8′ to the beginning of mobile phone numbers (which start with a 3, 8 or 9).

To make a direct international call from Costa Rica dial the international access code (00), followed by the country code (the country code for US and Canada is 1), then the area code and finally the local number.

- For emergency services it’s 911 like in North America.
